It's 10:30 am and I'm bored.
You are entering two races back to back weekends. There are no requirements for class or anything so anything goes. You start the week at the Snodrift rally in Atlanta Michigan and end at the Rolex 24 in Daytona. You must include fuel and lodging costs into your consideration and the vehicle must be street legal. If the vehicle is race prepped your budget is $70,000. If the vehicle is a street vehicle your budget is $50,000. The other $20,000 is set aside for race prep. Ebay only please.
UPDATE: Forgot to make clear these races take place in January so keep that in mind.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
is my choice.
It's an 07 Z06 for $36,000. That leaves plenty of cash for fuel and lodging as well as race prep including a C6R paint scheme
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I was going to go with something outlandish like a triumph or a 912 but I decided to take the Clarkson Bethlehem road trip method and choose something sensible.
What would you choose Oppo?

Get a few upgrades and have a small trailer for my swap parts - different aero package for rally and road along with wheels/tires, suspension, etc...Also have more than enough left over to bring along a small motorcycle for those last-second parts runs when the car is being prepped.

This would be my choice. 2012 Porsche Cayman R 6 speed. It has the mid engine layout that gives it supreme balance, and the extra power to cope. Also, it has already been lightened, so any race prep will be easier. Oh, and DAT red gear knob.

I thought for a while about a 911 but I didn't see one I really wanted that was cheap enough for fuel and lodging and whatnot. All the ones I saw were near 45+k

Here's one that fits a little better. I considered it until I thought it was a little too close to the budget cap and it means I might have to sleep in it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-Ca…

You want an air cooled 911 so 80s through early 90s. Helps with reliability and they make a godly engine note. Plus the older 911s were (and still are) rallied often as well as road raced. So there's no shortage of aftermarket parts for whatever you want.

I wanted a 964. Just didn't see any at the price I wanted so I figured if I couldn't have the ultimate rally car I went for the ultimate endurance car. My Z06 will be all yellow and black with Jake all over it by the time I got to Daytona.

Has anyone ever entered the rally twins in an endurance race? I wonder how they would fare.

$38,000, and spend 9k on parts to make it decently rally ready, and the remaining 3k on fuel/lodging. yes it will suck in general, but this is what I could come up with quickly.

I think it's an excellent option. I considered an AMC for 4k but I didn't want to detail all the work needed to restore and make race ready. I think muscle cars would be a hoot, both to drive and watch, on a rally course.

I can't do it any better than you already did. I'd buy the same thing

I hate to be that guy, but the Corvette isn't legal for Sno*Drift. You could do a Mustang though.
EDIT: Also your budget needs more big. When the Yaris was built into a rally car the build alone was over $15k. And that's for B-Spec class, which is basically "suspension, safety, and nothing else." The car still has the stock radio installed, with CD player.

There are no requirements for class or anything so anything goes.
If I required the cars to be legal for both events it would have been very boring as everything would have been a b-spec car because as far as I know those are the only things that run at both. $50k was for a street car estimating $70k for a full race build. That leaves $20k for the race stuff which I intend to be bare minimum because this thought experiment, at least in my eyes, is more about fun than winning. What's your choice Dusty?

My problem is as a competitor in Rally America rules and classes are always on my mind, I'm not good at shutting them off. I also still maintain you'd need at the very least $30-$40k even for the "bare minimum" level of race stuff.
As for my pick, since I can't turn off the "rules" part of my brain, I'd go with this Mustang Boss 302 which should theoretically be legal for both Rally America and Daytona.

Consider this an Exhibition event then. Run before the main event.

2006 Porsche Carrera. Low Miles. I'd trow on a cage, turbo, and other stuff for the 20k and run the hell out of it.
